How to Install Bolt-In Metal Valve Stems

7/22/2020
Add Article To List

When it comes to keeping the air in your tires, Speedway Motors has you covered with the Steel Bolt In-Tire Valve Stems. Rubber valve stems can crack, break, and leak over time. Steel bolt-in style valve stems will eliminate this issue!

The steel bolt-in valve stems come with an all-steel chrome-plated valve stem with a nice acorn cap, washers, nuts, also chrome plated and two grommets to fit both .453 and .625 valve stem holes in most any wheel out there.

Installation couldn't be easier, just select which grommet fits the valve stem hole in your wheel, the grommet has a large end and a small end. Slide the grommet on the valve stem with the large end seating against the base of the valve stem. Then from the backside, push the valve stem into the hole in the wheel, making sure that the small end of the grommet is seated into the hole.

Then place the washer over the valve stem with the rounded side facing up. The nut has a flat side and a rounded side, make sure that the flat side is facing down against the washer.

Run the nut down snug by hand, and using a 14mm Socket or Wrench if you prefer and tighten the nut down until the grommet expands to approximately the size of the base of the valve stem.

IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE NUT, THIS COULD CAUSE THE GROMMET TO TEAR, OR DISTORT CAUSING IT TO LEAK.

When all done, and back on the car this is what you should see, a job well done.
