Spooky Customer Cars for Halloween
We use lots of adjectives to describe our cars. Loud, fast, sketchy, low, slow, chopped…the list can go on. But there are a few words that seem to come up often when describing the hot rods and muscle cars that we love, and they’re words that are often associated with the Halloween season that is upon us. Scary, mean, spooky…there are plenty more. So, in the spirit of the season, here are a couple cars that showed up to our last Cars and Coffee that really embody the spirit of the season.
'56 Chevy "Black Widow"
In 1957, GM skunkworked a few 150 two-door sedans into stout NASCAR contenders. They were stripped down, beefed up, and fitted with hopped up 283 fuelies. Somewhere along the way, these wicked cars acquired the nickname “Black Widow”. There weren’t many to begin with, and years of rough and tumble competition made for even fewer survivors.
John, the owner and builder of this ’56, asked what it would look like if the Black Widow treatment was applied a year earlier. He did a ton of work to fab his own patch panels and clean up the body in preparation for the shiny black paint. It runs a 235 with a split manifold and duals. Bonus Halloween points for the giant spider on the hood.
"Jack" the Challenger
New Challengers have great, retro inspired lines and Hemi cars have plenty of power under the hood. Paint one orange and add some sinister green halos to the headlights and you're on the road to "Halloween Town." The owner of this one really leaned in and added some amazing airbrushed graphics to drive the theme home.
The Shark Charger
’71-’74 Chargers often get a bad rap. Sure, the earlier cars were beautiful and made famous by a couple moonshine running brothers and their airborne antics. But you can’t deny that the later cars have some beautiful lines, too. To some, they are reminiscent of the jet fighters of the day. The owner of this particular Charger took that idea to the next level with some nose-art inspired shark graphics.
