Tech Talk: Wheel Offset Measuring
Have you ever wondered why the offset of your front and back sprint car wheels don’t match up? If you have, you’re not alone. Customers call us almost every day with questions about this. Tyler is here to set things straight!
Measuring from the back of the wheel center to the edge of a 4-off Weld left rear wheel, you’ll come out with four inches. The front wheel measurement is where the confusion comes from. When you do the same for it, you’ll get 5 inches. A Weld front wheel doesn’t have a wheel center bolted to the back of it to make up the inch difference. For example, many racers want an 8-inch front wheel with a 4-inch outer half and a 4-inch inner half. If that’s the case, you’ll want to buy a 3-off front wheel.
