1967 Corvette Roadster by CAL Automotive Creations
Somewhere in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere, on our long road trip during Power Tour '23, one of those topics came up that only could come up under those circumstances. What is the most beautiful car ever produced? Not your favorite, but the one you think is the best OE design of all time. After some long thought, I arrived at my answer: the '63-'67 Corvette.
One might think that it would be hard to improve on a design so perfect, but Andy Leach and the crew at CAL Automotive Creations have a knack for making little changes that add up to a visually spectacular whole when the finished car is finally on the ground. Built from a rendering by Eric Black, this '67 Corvette built for Andy Nowka takes those already near-perfect factory lines and makes them, well, perfect.
This '67 is powered by an LS engine, but the CAL crew did a surprisingly clever job of disguising the modern mill to look like the 427 big block that you might expect to see under the hood. The interior carries on the theme of modern components that have been carefully massaged to look like 1967, only better. The custom CNC'd wheels are the cherry on top, giving the 'Vette a vintage road racy vibe, but with modern proportions.
We're beyond thrilled that Andy and Co. will be joining us in Vegas this year, displaying this immaculate Corvette in the Speedway Motors booth at SEMA '23! If you happen to be there, be sure to stop by and see us. If not, hopefully these photos will serve as a the next best thing.
